I haven’t updated in a few months, but Aurelia continues to fight this cancer and win. For that we are incredibly grateful and we will continue to focus on beating this.

Nearly all of our winter activities take place outside as it’s easier to ensure her health when outdoors. It’s much harder for her to pick up a cold or the flu when outside, so we are only social in outdoor environments.
Aurelia has lots of energy daily, but we still occasionally have a down day. Her body has handled most of this chemo incredibly well, so a few low days are expected.
We have started to talk to her team about end of treatment and I can hardly believe this conversation is even taking place!! If everything continues smoothly, Aurelia could be done sometime in late summer or early autumn.
We’ve made it a long way and we aren’t there yet, but having a slight light at the end of the tunnel is a huge motivator for all of us. Treatment fatigue is a real thing and just hearing about the end is helpful.

Our life continues in its simplicity: weekends at races or in the nearby mountains or coast. Hikes and bike rides with friends. School is a risk, but her team feels it is worth it and Aurelia is really good about hygiene, etc.

Aurelia continues to see her psychiatrist and work through the massive challenges as a cancer warrior. As a parent I can only help her so much and she has experienced things we wish she hadn’t, but we hope the therapy helps her sort things as we continue on this journey.

The colorful building behind Aurelia is her treatment hospital—but this building is just for pediatric oncology. It’s the largest and best facility in Europe and we are so fortunate to have this here in Barcelona.
Aurelia got a new gravel bike as an early birthday present and she is very excited to have some adventures this summer.

For now all of her medication and chemotherapy is the same as it’s been—each day after school is one type of chemo and she has two types on Thursdays. We are used to the schedule and she is handling it well. She usually takes her chemo and then goes to her after school activities, so she is hanging in there. It’s strange how it all becomes normal.
